Open Evening - Meet the Wickford at Christmas committee

Could you help organise Wickford’s Christmas Street Fair and the high street’s Christmas lights display?

The Wickford at Christmas committee, chaired by Eunice Brockman, is a group of Wickford residents that care about our town and want to create the best atmosphere that we can for the community during the festive period.

We are looking for more committee members to join us in volunteering their time to pull everything together for what has become a fantastic event and initiative for Wickford. Perhaps you are an events operation whizz, could co-ordinate volunteers at the street fair or have some great business connections?

These are the current committee members.

Interested? Meet us for a drink and chat on Friday 1st February, 7-9pm at the Wick Community Centre to find out how you could get involved.

It’s only a discussion at this stage - there’s no obligation!

Hope to see you there. You can RSVP on the Facebook event if you’d like reminders.

If you can't make it please contact for information

MAP: Wickford houses with great Christmas lights displays

We’ve scoured local Facebook groups and created the map below of houses in Wickford that have fantastic Christmas lights displays!

We don’t know the exact house numbers so have given a rough idea of where you should head to.

The weather outside is delightful…

We know many of you are thinking about your summer holidays…

But we're excited as there's only six months to Christmas and five months 'til the Wickford at Christmas Street Fair!

Christmas is always somewhere in the minds of the committee members as we work year-round to organise and raise funds for the street fair and lights.

What we’ve been up to

  • Visiting local councils to hear about funding opportunities
  • Meeting with businesses in Wickford and nearby to generate support and donations
  • Securing the permits and facilities to make the event happen
  • Gathering stall and entertainment requests
  • Updating and refreshing the pages on our website including a 2017 photo gallery

Funding update

It takes £4,000 to put up the Christmas lights in Wickford every year and around £9,000 to put on the street fair event. We receive some money from the council and groups but the rest comes from donations and sponsorship made by local residents and businesses.

We can buy new lights if even more money is raised!
